South Florida Wreck Trek
Dive South Florida’s Most Iconic Wrecks
13 Trips. Iconic Wrecks. One Incredible Year of Diving.
South Florida is home to one of the most exciting collections of shipwrecks in the country — and Divers Cove is going exploring.
Join Divers Cove Divemaster Paul Williams for the South Florida Wreck Trek, a year-long series of recreational wreck dives running from October 2026 through October 2027.
There is no membership fee and no Wreck Trek entry fee.
Join us for one dive, pick your favorites, or set yourself the challenge of completing the entire Wreck Trek.
From accessible Open Water wrecks off Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach to legendary dives like the Spiegel Grove and Vandenberg, this series gives local divers a reason to keep diving, build experience, meet other divers, and explore some of Florida’s best wrecks.
How the Wreck Trek Works
Choose the wreck dives you want to join and register for each trip individually.
Each month we'll head out to explore another South Florida wreck destination.
Some dives are suitable for Open Water Divers, while deeper wrecks require Advanced Open Water certification.
On selected Wreck Trek dates, Divers Cove instructors will also offer the opportunity to work toward your PADI Wreck Diver Specialty while participating in the Trek.
No membership. No annual fee.
You simply pay for the dives you choose to join.

First Stop: Okinawa
October 24, 2026 | Pompano Beach
We kick off the Wreck Trek with the Okinawa, an ideal first stop because the wreck is accessible to Open Water Divers.
Depth: 35–70 feet
Certification: Open Water Diver or higher
Location: Pompano Beach
Charter: South Florida Diving Headquarters
Whether you've never explored a wreck before or already love wreck diving, this is an excellent opportunity to get back in the water and start your Wreck Trek.

Earn Your PADI Wreck Diver Specialty Along the Way
Wrecks are fascinating — but diving them requires additional knowledge, planning and skills.
On selected Wreck Trek dates, Divers Cove instructors Scott Simpson and Doug Rencher will be available to provide PADI Wreck Diver Specialty training.
The course develops skills including:
-
Wreck dive planning
-
Wreck navigation
-
Identifying and avoiding potential hazards
-
Surveying a wreck
-
Proper use of reels and lines
-
Techniques for responsible wreck exploration
Wreck Specialty availability will vary by trip.
Our currently planned Wreck Specialty opportunities include:
October 24, 2026 — Okinawa
Wreck Specialty training available
December 19, 2026 — DEMA Trader & Sheri-Lyn
Wreck Specialty training available
Additional 2027 training dates will be announced as instructor schedules are finalized.
Not Advanced Open Water Yet?
Several Wreck Trek destinations reach depths beyond the Open Water certification range.
If you want to participate in dives including Lady Luck, Captain Dan, Spiegel Grove, Guy Harvey, RSB-1, Proteus & Ophelia or Vandenberg, talk with Divers Cove about completing your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification.
The Wreck Trek is a great reason to keep progressing as a diver — because every new certification opens the door to new destinations.
Nitrox Recommended
Many of the deeper Wreck Trek dives are excellent opportunities to dive Enriched Air Nitrox.
Nitrox can allow qualified divers to increase their no-decompression limits compared with air, making it particularly useful for many deeper wreck-diving profiles.
If you're not already Nitrox certified, ask us about the PADI Enriched Air Diver course.
