For more than eight years, Troy Tomey has been helping divers begin and continue their scuba diving adventures at Divers Cove. As a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer and former U.S. Navy leader, Troy brings professionalism, leadership, and a calm, encouraging teaching style to every class he leads.

Troy is passionate about introducing people to the underwater world through the PADI Open Water Diver Course, but his favorite course to teach is PADI Advanced Open Water Diver. He enjoys watching students transform from newly certified divers into confident, capable adventurers as they expand their skills and experience. Seeing that growth in confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of being an instructor.

At Divers Cove, Troy lives by a simple belief:

He takes great pride in helping every student become a safe, confident, and responsible diver, whether they're taking their first breaths underwater or continuing their education through advanced training.

Troy is also instantly recognizable thanks to his love of Scubapro equipment and one very specific color—yellow. Whether it's on the boat or underwater, if you see a flash of yellow, there's a good chance Troy is nearby. His enthusiasm for quality equipment matches his passion for teaching and helping divers choose gear they can rely on for years of adventure.

Outside of teaching, Troy is rarely without his loyal service dog, Ocean, who has become part of the Divers Cove family and is often at the dive center greeting students and customers.

When lobster season arrives, you'll know exactly where Troy wants to be. Florida's Mini Lobster Season is one of his favorite times of the year, and he enjoys introducing divers to the excitement of responsibly hunting Florida spiny lobster.

Whether he's leading an Open Water class, helping Advanced students build confidence, or preparing divers for their next adventure, Troy's goal is always the same—to create divers who are safe, skilled, and excited to keep exploring.
