I'm Harvey, Expedition Leader at Divers Cove, and one of my favorite things is introducing divers to the incredible underwater world we have right here in our backyard. Whether you've just earned your Open Water certification or you've logged hundreds of dives, South Florida offers an amazing variety of dive experiences that keep even the most experienced divers coming back for more.

Within just a couple of hours, you can explore colorful coral reefs, dramatic limestone ledges, world-famous shipwrecks, exhilarating drift dives, and one of the largest seasonal gatherings of Goliath groupers anywhere in the world.

Why South Florida Is One of the World's Best Scuba Diving Destinations

South Florida is blessed with warm, clear water, easy access to offshore reefs, and the Gulf Stream, which brings exceptional visibility and an abundance of marine life year-round.

Depending on where we dive, you may encounter:

• Green and Loggerhead sea turtles

• Caribbean reef sharks

• Nurse sharks

• Goliath groupers

• Eagle rays

Jupiter: Florida's Famous Drift Diving

Jupiter is one of my favorite places to dive.

Known for exciting drift dives and healthy reefs, Jupiter offers some of the most memorable underwater encounters in Florida. During the late summer, divers travel from around the world to witness the incredible Goliath Grouper Aggregation, where dozens of these massive yet gentle fish gather on local reefs and wrecks.

Beyond the groupers, Jupiter is well known for:

• Reef sharks

• Sea turtles

• Eagle rays

• Large schools of fish

• Crystal-clear Gulf Stream water

Most dives range between 60 and 95 feet, making them ideal for Advanced Open Water and Nitrox certified divers.

Palm Beach: Beautiful Reefs and Sharkies Ledge

Palm Beach County offers some of the healthiest reefs in South Florida.

One of our favorite destinations is Sharkies Ledge, a beautiful drift dive featuring limestone ledges, swim-throughs, and colorful coral formations.

The reef is home to:

• Caribbean reef sharks

• Nurse sharks

• Loggerhead turtles

• Green turtles

• Stingrays

• Goliath groupers

• Schools of tropical fish

With depths between 45 and 60 feet, Sharkies Ledge is an excellent destination for Open Water Divers looking to experience Palm Beach drift diving.

Fort Lauderdale is famous for its incredible collection of artificial reefs and shipwrecks.

What Certification Do You Need?

South Florida offers dive sites for every experience level.

Open Water Divers can enjoy many beautiful reef dives.

Advanced Open Water Divers can access deeper wrecks and drift dives.

For many of our Jupiter expeditions, Nitrox certification is also required, allowing divers to maximize bottom time while diving deeper profiles.
