May 12th: Spiegel Grove 2 Tank Dive

The USS Spiegel Grove is one of the largest wrecks South Florida has to offer. So large that it is nearly impossible to see the entire wreck in just one dive!

She is a Thomaston-Class dock landing ship commisioned by the US Navy in 1956. The Speigel Grove served in the Navy on countless operations until she was decommissioned in 1989. In 2001 she was given to the State of Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission to become the amazing artificial reef she is today.

It's common to see a number of different shark species and there is a resident shoal of large Barracuda and abundant other fish and coral life.

The USS Spiegel Grove is 510 ft long, 84 ft in height. She sits in about 120 - 130ft at the sand with her top deck at around 65ft.

Join us for this fascinating and challenging dive. We advise that a 28% Nitrox blend will give the best bottom time possible with a MOD of 131 feet.

* Advanced Open Water and Nitrox certified divers only.
