Open Water Classes
Scuba Instruction and Certification - The Open Water Course
Here's where it all begins. You'll enter as a landlubber and finish as a PADI Open Water diver. We offer weeknight or weekend scuba classes year round. Private diving lessons are available to fit your schedule. Call us to reserve a spot in the next class. There are three steps to earning your scuba certification.
Step 1 - Academics
Prior to pool training open water students are required to learn basic diving concepts by either:
- Traditional class/lecture - The student meets with the instuctor and class members to review home study materials.
- Elearning - The student completes all academics in online, interactive sessions. If you choose the elearning option you can start your course today! There is an additional cost for the elearning option. See the details on elearning.
Step 2 - Pool Training
The student diver learns how to assemble and use all the equipment discussed in Step 1 in the pool All of our pool training is done in the local community pools in Davie or in Plantation.
Step 3 - Ocean Dives
Now it really gets fun as we take everything we have learned in the first two steps and go diving! All our training dives are done from local dive charter boats here in Fort Lauderdale. When you have completed your ocean dives you will receive your PADI Open Water scuba diving certification.
Our fee includes academic materials/review, pool training and pool fees, use of scuba gear (regulator, BCD, wetsuit, tanks, computer) four ocean dives from a local dive charter boat and certification card. Students provide personal gear (mask, snorkel, fins, weights).
Anyone taking their scuba lessons with our dive shop receives a 10% discount on anything purchased at Divers Cove.
